Project description:
Climate-induced changes in Arctic environments will have strong impacts on the distribution of microplastics (MPs) and need to bestudied. The aims are: a) quantification and identification of MPs <100 ?m (small MPs, SMPs) and nanoplastics (NPs), b) identification ofbioindicators and assessment of SMPs’ stress markers; c) assessment of pollutants carried by SMPs; d) investigation of changes on stressmarkers and microbiome due to SMPs, e) evaluation of SMPs as vectors of pollutants and bacteria
National/International Cooperation:
National Cooperation (The research Consortium includes 4 Research Units (RU), namely RU1: CNR-ISP (with the two sections of Messina and Venice); RU2: ENEA-Laboratory of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (SSPT-PROTER-BES), Casaccia-Rome; RU3: University of Rome La Sapienza-Department of Biology and Biotechnologies "Charles Darwin" (BBCD, Rome): RU4: University of Padua, Department ofChemistry,Padua.
