Project description:
The primary objective of the project is to apply a novel non-target screening method on snow samples to identify new marine productivity proxies that can be exploited for future long-term palaeoproductivity reconstructions fromrnArctic ice cores. In addition, the project wants to bring preliminary evidence on how the newly identified moleculesrnare affected by long-range transport and on how they are preserved in firn matrices. The secondary objective of the project is to reinforce and strengthen the cooperation among the Paul Scherrer Institut, the Norwegian Polar Institut and the National Research Council of Italy, bringing these institutions at the forefront of future environmental non-target investigations in the Arctic.
