Project description:
The Arctic is warming faster than the rest of the world. Several processes have been proposed for this phenomenon called Arctic amplification. While the change in sea ice coverage is known to contribute to Arctic amplification by a reduced reflection of solar radiation (sea ice feedback), the roles of other processes are difficult to quantify. Especially, the role of clouds and cloud feedback is not well understood, and the sign of this feedback is uncertain. In particular, the role of clouds containing ice particles remains uncertain in the Arctic.rnrnTo better understand atmospheric mechanisms associated with airborne particles triggering ice formation in clouds (ice-nucleating particles; INPs), this project targets to investigate the sources (natural/manmade), atmospheric abundance, chemical composition, biological components, and physical properties of INPs in the Atlantic sector of the Arctic from the Gruvebadet observatory.rnrnThe RiS number is coming.
