The AGAP-2017 activity is built in the framework of a project started in the 2011 and performed with continuity up to present.rnPrimary objective of the proposed activity is to contribute to build a short climatology of the lower troposphere composition in terms of aerosol particles in the Kongsfjorden area. To this aim the continuation of annual measurements is mandatory.rnThe measurements will be achieved by means of a scientific payload that will be lifted up to about 2000 m by a tethered balloon. The presence of permanent measurement stations in the area and active collaboration with the German station activity of balloon launches reinforce the work.rnSecondary objectives are the detection of long range transport events, characterisation of mixing precesses from the surface to the troposphere, the study of particles and gas fluxes from and to the snow surface to the atmosphere.
