The Gruvebadet Aerosol Monitoring Program investigates the chemical composition, physical properties, and seasonal variability of atmospheric aerosols in the Arctic environment of Ny-Ålesund (Svalbard). Using advanced trace and ultra-trace analytical techniques, the project characterizes inorganic and organic aerosol components and their deposition in snow. Complementary physical measurements, such as aerosol size distribution and optical properties, provide a comprehensive view of particle behavior and radiative relevance. By combining year-round sampling with source-apportionment tools and air-mass trajectory analysis, the program identifies natural and anthropogenic contributions to Arctic aerosols and improves understanding of transport processes and climate-driven variability.
